Associate Producer - Remote

Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at American Public Media.
APM Studios seeks an Associate Producer to work on an upcoming series at the intersection of America’s relationship with race and racism, family history and healing from intergenerational trauma.
As the Associate Producer, you’ll work with a team of producers, editors and the host of the show on all aspects of show production. You will help produce and edit episodes and stories, book guests, conduct research, identify archival and supplementary audio, cut tape, and contribute to the growth of the show through additional content and audience engagement.
Job Description
- Helps frame, produce and edit episodes and stories, source episode topics, book guests
- Prepares research material and works with production team to prep for interviews and field recordings
- Create episode transcripts with the help of AI transcription program
- Assists with production and arranges interview logistics – over Zoom, studio, and in the field
- Edits host interviews, archive audio and supplementary materials
- Works with host, producers, and others in arranging for related elements to complete or supplement an episode or story. Including organizational and admin responsibilities as needed
- Plays a support role with engagement and social teams, to assist in production of social media content and show promotion
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience
- Two years of experience with podcast or broadcast production
- Experience researching, producing and cutting draft episodes
- Experience cutting down interviews, and multitrack content editing
- Knowledge of sound design for podcasts
- Familiarity with podcast publishing workflows
- Experience with research and booking guests
- Experience working in a collaborative team or newsroom under deadlines
- Knowledge of journalistic principles, ethics and standards
- Familiarity with writing and publishing for the web via blogs, mobile, social media editing and publishing
- Ability to research using a variety of technologies, methods and sources

- An understanding of different podcast genres and formats
- Audio editing skills using Pro Tools

- Ability to be flexible and multitask on different projects under deadline pressure and to work collaboratively with other staff
