COMPANY

Airship is the podcast production company behind "American Scandal," "American History Tellers," "Business Movers," “History Daily” and more, led by host and producer Lindsay Graham (no, not that Lindsey Graham).

As our slate of podcasts grows, we're looking for a thoughtful and creative Sound Designer who’s capable of conjuring cinematic, moving and human moments in audio.

POSITION

Airship podcasts are renowned for their high production values, and this position will be critical to ensuring their current level of quality and success. A successful Sound Designer will have an intuitive sense for drama, know how nuance can make or break the reality of a scene, and understand that sound design is the unsaid dialog and subtext of the narrative.

Duties include,

As we're using the term, "Sound Design" is the intricate and detailed use of pre-recorded sound effects and manipulating them through spatialization, reverberation, echo, EQ and other devices to create a realistic audio world in which characters can be felt to exist.

Prior sound design experience is required; all candidates should be prepared to submit examples of prior work, and a paid skills test may be required. We’re a collaborative, cross-functional team, with many hands touching each project, so software and work methods are standardized. All candidates must be familiar with Cockos Reaper and willing to learn established workflows and processes.

We're very eager to find candidates who love audio storytelling, who enjoy the work, are good at the work, and want to cultivate a mutually beneficial, long-term professional relationship.

COMPENSATION

$42,000.00 - $52,000.00USD per year, based on experience. Benefits include health and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick time, and an employer-matched 401k program.

Airship values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage and consider all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity, family responsibilities, disability, education, political affiliation, veteran status, or genetic information.

REQUIREMENTS

The perfect candidate will have a deep enthusiasm for audio and an appreciation of history. Beyond the SFX and reverb sends, they will have a passion for podcasts, love storytelling and be a creative, innovative thinker.

Desired:

Airship is a growing company based in Dallas, TX with employees and key partners in Los Angeles, Austin, Denver, New York and the UK. The position can be fully remote, or hybrid in Dallas.
