Latest news
- Oct 8: Podtrac released the September 2025 US rankings for publishers and podcasts. In the podcast ranking, The Charlie Kirk Show saw a rise from #34 to #6 (his fatal shooting was on Sep 10); SiriusXM’s Fantasy Footballers moved from #34 to #9 (the new NFL season kicked off on Sep 5); and Morbid jumped from #404 up to #11 (this is essentially “the highest new entry”, given the show shifted to SiriusXM on Sep 1 from Wondery, which isn’t a participating publisher). As ever, these rankers measure participating podcasters only.
- Sep 30: This International Podcast Day, support an indie podcaster near you: finalists in the Business and the People’s Choice categories in the 2025 Signal Awards include massive shows from Bloomberg, The Verge, Wondery etc, and independent Canadian show The Business Development Podcast - who are currently in second place, behind Morning Brew. If you fancy helping this David vs Goliath fight, go vote!.
- Sep 25: Amazon Prime Video is now showing New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce in the US. The show is owned by Wondery, an Amazon subsidiary. Here’s the show page, which appears to be sorted by oldest-first. It doesn’t appear to be available on Amazon Prime Video in other countries but is available on YouTube internationally - we’ve asked why.
- Sep 24: Wondery has cancelled ad sales support for award-winning show The Socially Distant Sports Bar.
- Sep 10: How many shows do you make every day? A new podcast network is using AI to flood podcast directories with more than 3,000 new episodes a week - and only four content staff. It’s from a company called Inception Point AI, headed up by former Wondery COO Jeanine Wright; shows are made for an apparent cost of just $1 an episode; and Spreaker’s programmatic ads mean shows can get into profit after as little as 20 listeners. Should you want to listen, here’s (at random) Knitting, hosted by Lila "Crafty" Walker: there’s no disclosure that the show is AI generated (though the show’s reviews have worked that out, calling it AI slop).
