- Feb 13: Exclusive: Amazon’s Wondery has closed its operations in Mexico and in Brazil. Podnews understands that the closure was announced in a short staff meeting earlier this week. Those impacted include Sarah Barrett, the company’s Head of Mexico Podcast Content. It comes the same week as some of Wondery Mexico’s shows were nominated for the Ondas Globales awards; and the LATAM units own a successful YouTube page with more than 500,000 subscribers.
- Feb 7: Wondery and Tinkercast have extended their relationship about the popular kids podcast Wow in the World. The show has a live tour this year across the US, and a book forthcoming.
- Feb 5: History Daily celebrated its 1,000th episode yesterday. In the time it takes to commute to work, History Daily has transported thousands of listeners to the beaches of Normandy, the surface of the moon, and the trembling base of Mt. Vesuvius. It's made by Noiser, Airship and Wondery.
- Jan 30: Lemonada Media is now using Supporting Cast, joining publishers like Wondery, Slate, NPR and others. (Supporting Cast lets you offer subscription programs that work in most apps, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube Music).
- Jan 27: Cop City, a new police training facility in Atlanta GA, is nearly open, in spite of protests that led to the death of one activist.
