- Jun 3: As we suggested last week, podcast studio Kast Media has announced it has emerged from Chapter 11 restructuring with “overwhelming support” of its creditors. As Podnews covered, the company continued to trade through the process, which founder Colin Thomson says was “heavily scrutinized”. Thomson has become Chief Creative Officer; Kast Media’s new CEO will be Matty Staudt who joins from iHeart, Stitcher, and Jam Street Media.
- May 29: We may have an end to Kast Media’s bankruptcy proceedings, which we’ve been covering for over a year. The company’s plan to emerge from bankruptcy was confirmed by a court yesterday.
- Apr 8: Kast Media, still in bankruptcy, released its monthly operating report for March. The company made $25,211 in ad sales; and a further $5,130 in premium paid subscriptions.
- Mar 24: In the court papers as part of its bankruptcy proceedings, podcast network Kast Media has posted its operating accounts for February 2025. The company earnt $5,100 from Apple Podcasts for paid subscriptions; and $11,400 from advertising. It’s a helpful look into how well the Apple Podcasts paid subscription feature is doing for this one publisher; we’d love to hear how it’s doing overall for everyone.
- Feb 3: Kast Media’s bankruptcy procedure appears to have got a lot more complicated - the owner of Jim Cornette’s shows, Arcadian Vanguard, is suing Kast Media CEO Colin Thomson and his family members - and also suing LiveOne and PodcastOne. The complaint alleges that $6.9mn of cash went missing; claims that family members received two cars and a $7,665 Cartier watch; and also alleges that this was occurring with PodcastOne’s knowledge. The summons was served on Friday.
