- Jul 6: The British Podcast Awards 2026 released its longlist - recognising 409 entrants across 27 categories. Almost half the longlist are claimed to be independent titles and talent. We see at least 53 nominations for the BBC, eleven for Audible, eight for Audio Always, Platform Media and Bauer Media, seven for Persephonica and Fun Kids, five for Rethink Audio, Sky News, Bloomberg and History Hit, four for Novel and Podmasters, three for Sony and Avalon. One notable indie who has a nomination: the 19 year-old Answer Me This!. Goalhanger, the UK's largest independent podcast company, did not enter; Global also appears not to have put their shows forward.
- Jun 9: Fire TV is to launch "in the coming months" in the UK, Germany and Canada - it's already live in the US. In the UK, Bauer Media Audio has announced that it is a launch partner, and will bring its podcasts and radio stations to the platform.
- Apr 29: Bauer Media Audio released the findings of research into 1,000 senior agency and advertiser decision-makers across nine European markets. Sound Check Europe 2026 finds that in the UK, 91% of respondents say that audio is important to their strategy; and 70% of advertisers across Europe view digital audio as a brand-safe, high-quality environment.
- Mar 31: A large pan-European broadcaster and podcast producer, Bauer Media Audio has launched its Rayo app on Android Automotive, into initial markets of the UK and Portugal.
- Mar 18: Henrietta Harrison has joined Persephonica as an Executive Producer leading on factual and current affairs. She joins the company from Bauer Media where she created Katherine Ryan’s hit podcast, ‘What’s My Age Again?’. Her previous credits include BBC News and Loftus Media.
