- Oct 16: In Australia, ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network has parted company with Life Uncut, the current number 7 in the Australian Podcast Ranker. No word yet as to who made the decision, or where the show will go. ARN has an upfront on Oct 29.
- Oct 13: In Australia, Jetpak Media, a creator representation house and media publisher, has been launched by former Spotify and ARN executive Kai Battaglene.
- Sep 16: Lily Allen has “departed” the popular Miss Me?, a podcast she co-hosts with Miquita Oliver, according to the UK newspapers. Except, no, she hasn’t really. The podcast will continue, and Podnews learns that she will return, after she works on “a new project” (we’d presume it’s a new album); and she’ll still pop in on the podcast from time to time. - Aug 28: Magellan AI has released the first ever Australian Podcast Quarterly Benchmark Report. Working with ARN, we learn that the average ad load is 7.53%. (In the US, it’s 8.13%). Podcast advertising must be seen as fair dinkum by the advertisers, too - podcast ad spend saw an increase of 20% year-on-year. Crikey!
- Aug 6: Patreon released new figures, claiming that Patreon creators have now earned over $10bn since the platform was first launched in 2013. The company is now paying creators more than $2bn annually; and there are now more than 25 million paid memberships on the platform.
