- May 15: The company also announced live partners for Spotify Video Distribution (which allows your podcast host to directly upload video for you into Spotify). Libsyn, Podigee, Audioboom, Audiomeans, and Podspace are all live with the feature today. Spotify Video Distribution was announced in January; Acast and Omny Studio were both highlighted as launch partners then, but aren't yet live. Spotify is now explicit in the FAQ that if you change your mind, you can transition your show back to an audio-only RSS feed - but the company warns you, you'll lose all video uploads.
- May 13: Acast claims its the first to monetise Apple Podcasts' HLS video, signing campaigns with State Farm and T-Mobile. The company says that 117 shows have already enabled Acast’s Apple HLS integration, with over 1,000 video episodes published to date (on Acast, access to video is currently invite-only). HLS video with Apple Podcasts, like with Amazon Music, remains hosted by podcast hosts like Acast.
- May 8: The Podcast Show in London has published a number of new speakers for its event. Our Editor, James Cridland, will start day 1 with a reveal of the new Podnews Report Card results. From Apple Podcasts, Susie Warhurst - Head of International Podcasts - will be speaking about video, joined by Acast's Laura Hagen, and Aussie podcasters Toni and Ryan. Day two includes YouTube's Steve McLendon and Stella Binns for "a deep dive into the platform’s global podcasting strategy and the evolving creator landscape".
- May 6: Pablo Torre Finds Out was the winner of the Audio Reporting Pulitzer Prize, "for a pioneering and entertaining form of live podcast journalism that investigated how the Los Angeles Clippers seemingly evaded the NBA’s salary cap rules by funneling money to a star player through an environmental startup." The show is with Acast.
- Apr 30: I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want - I want three new video-capable podcast studios. Acast has upgraded its studios in Stockholm and Oslo, and Acast's new video podcast studio in Woolloomoolloo in Sydney has officially had it's first guest: none other than Sporty Spice herself, Mel C, in a new episode of The Mitch Churi Chat Show out today.
