It's easier to get new shows into Apple Podcasts; but that also means it's easier to push spam into it - Apple Podcasts (and, therefore, many other apps that rely on the Apple Podcasts directory) is being flooded by spam, like the Temu codes we link to today (via John Spurlock). These shows are hosted on Spotify for Podcasters, Acast, RSS
.com, and Ausha. - Apr 20: Acast published its annual report for 2025. It posted sales growth in North America of +60% in the year; overall, sales grew by +29%. Bringing in a total of $274mn in revenue, the company posted an overall loss of -$12mn. The company has 429 full-time employees (up from 364 last year).
- Apr 1: The future of podcasting is women, Acast argued in Italy, unveiling their 2026 Women in Podcasting research. It discovers that “the algorithm” may be against women creators, and that female hosts are better for advertisers than men.
- Mar 27: Acast took part in a session at Advertising Week Europe, alongside British Airways Holidays and Little Dot Studios.
- Mar 25: The absence of support from Spotify/Megaphone at launch may mean that many users won’t see the shows they’re expecting in video within the app (including shows like Joe Rogan and The Ringer titles); Apple says more content will roll out throughout the year. John Spurlock reports just 48 shows available in video at launch; the majority with Acast.
