WNYC is 100 years old today

Happy 100th birthday, WNYC. The New York radio station went on air from the Municipal Building, above, on Jul 8 1924 at 8.54pm. There will be a re-enactment of that first broadcast at 8.54pm tonight, and the Empire State Building will be bathed in WNYC red this evening. There is special programming throughout the month, and the station is looking for New York stories. It produces a number of popular podcasts including On The Media and Radiolab.

Wondercraft AI has a feature called “dubs” - you upload your audio of you reading something and it will dub it into another language - using your voice. Here is our daily podcast in French, in Japanese, in Danish, in Dutch, and in Arabic (including a clip of a guest, too). If you speak any of those languages, we’d be curious to hear your comments.

Here’s the blog post about it but it’s not for the squeamish. His phone is fine, though, thanks for asking. Heal quick, Dave!
