VOX Media to launch a new daily podcast

  • VOX Media is to launch a new daily podcast called Today, Explained. Hosted by Sean Rameswaram, there’s a trailer up now with a song. It starts February 19th and is aimed at your afternoon commute.

  • The BBC continue to launch new podcasts: this week, the launch of Unpopped. The podcast examines pop culture moments from the recent past.

  • Today is also World Radio Day, so what better to listen to than Radio Controlled, a story about how radio in Germany helped the country reset its own cultural values.

    JAR Audio is a new, Vancouver-based podcast production company. Well Now is their first launch, a podcast exploring the hidden sides of health, the root causes of illness, and what it means to be well. There’s more on the way.

  • Overcast

    The developer of Overcast says, in a tweet, that he’s reworking the 'voice boost’ feature. “I have a much better understanding of dynamics processing now, and am able to make a much more gentle and adaptive adjustment while retaining the usefulness of the feature”.

  • Digiday posts a piece about the difficulties of sharing audio on social media, and more successful ways that podcasters are marketing their shows.

  • Bumpers, a podcast host, is to close: you have until March 6th with the service, before it goes read-only and disappears in May. Here’s more on the closure.

  • Vevo, the music video company, has parted ways with Australian broadcaster Southern Cross Austereo, who will no longer represent the company.

  • Nearly, a podcast publisher in Melbourne Australia, confirms it’s to launch a podcast co-working space in Abbotsford. “Desks are available,” they say in a tweet.
