Todd Cochrane, the CEO of Blubrry Podcasting and an independent podcaster, has died. He was 61.

In a statement from the company, Blubrry’s Barry Kantz said: “His leadership, passion, and belief in independent creators guided Blubrry from day one. Todd’s impact on our company, our team, and the entire podcasting community is immeasurable.”

Podnews today carries a full obituary - from his time in the United States Navy, via his dial-up bulletin boards and Geek News Central, to his successful podcast company.

The New Media Show will air a final memorial episode with long-term cohost Rob Greenlee and guests Adam Curry, Mike Dell and Rob Walch on Wednesday at 3pm EST.

“I’m not a Joe Rogan, nor will I ever be. But what I am is a guy that grew up in the country with humble beginnings, high school education, followed by a bachelor’s degree late in life in a field that I’m not even working in right now. And by God, if I can do this and succeed and grind and put out a show - anyone can.”

Podnews returns tomorrow.
