Theo Von now has the #5 podcast in the US

• Edison Research announced the top 50 podcasts in the US for Q3/23, based on reach. Former Kast Media show This Past Weekend with Theo Von made a top 10 debut at #5, Distractible made a top 20 debut at #15. Joe Rogan is still #1 for podcasts.

• Audacy suggests that brands are playing it “too safe” in podcasting. With the plethora of brand safety tools currently flooding podcasting, the company interviewed 6,000 podcast listeners, to discover that “what marketers may consider risky actually offers opportunities for advertisers to connect with highly-engaged listeners”.

• Music copyright is now a $40bn global business, according to Will Page, a former Spotify chief economist. It has increased in value by more than a quarter in just two years.

• James Corden, a British actor and former US television host, has signed a deal for a show on SiriusXM. The Guardian_ reports it “will only be available for subscribers to SiriusXM”.
