Spotify is already beating Apple in many countries

  • Spotify is now more popular than Apple for podcast listening in many countries, according to new data from Voxnest. In particular, Spotify beats Apple across almost all of Central and South America. The podcast consumption data is based on February’s downloads of podcasts powered by Voxnest including a number of third-party platforms, and reflects Android’s success in many of these markets.

  • Scripps, who own Triton Digital and Stitcher, have seen revenue grow by 41% in Q4 2018, according to new results from the company. Revenue for Stitcher, which includes Midroll, was up 64% to $16.7 million.

  • Luminary is boasting $100m in funding, and is set to launch in June. The New York Times reports that it’ll offer a subscription model of ad-free podcasts for US $8/month (as well as all currently available podcasts).

  • StreamGuys, who is title sponsor of Podnews this month, has launched SGRewind - a product that allows listeners to rewind live streams and hear them from the start.
