Spotify Audience Network launches in Australia, Canada and UK

• First look: Spotify has just announced it has made the Spotify Audience Network advertising marketplace available to advertisers and Megaphone publishers in Australia, Canada and the UK. The service was made available in the US in February. It allows advertisers to buy ads on and off the Spotify platform: Megaphone podcast publishers can opt in, like ViacomCBS and The Wall Street Journal. It’s credited with bringing new advertisers to the medium.

Before Megaphone was acquired by Spotify, they had worked with partners in each of those three countries to represent their inventory to local advertisers. Will that change with this shift?”

• Edison Research has announced a free-to-use Podcast Listener Survey template for podcasters, as well as a managed listener survey product. One of the first to use the managed product is Sounds Profitable, which writes more on it today.

• iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group CEO Conal Byrne and actor/podcaster Kevin Pollak have been announced as the closing keynotes for the NATPE ContentCast virtual event on July 14. Podnews’s Editor will also be hosting a panel. It’s free to attend.

• Luminary has announced season 2 of Tabloid, focusing on the infamous VHS video tape with Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. It’s available in the Luminary app, and the Apple Podcasts Luminary channel.

• PodcastOne has announced that it has acquired sales and distribution rights to a number of new shows.

• Federated Media, a broadcaster in the US, has signed with Triton Digital and Omny Studio.

• There is still time to get tickets to go to the British Podcast Awards: it’s a COVID-safe event at Brockwell Park in London, on July 10 2-5pm.

• The ivy․fm podcast player now supports podcasting 2.0 episode chapters. More than 26,000 episodes have them; try this.

• Kids podcaster Wonkybot has added a free WOW - Whats On Wonkybot show, available on all platforms. The publisher went exclusive on Apple Podcasts at the beginning of the month.

Sports fans in Australia can enjoy a daily sports news podcast, Sport Today, from The Squiz. It’s relaunched this week as part of the Acast Creator Network. Nobody mention State of Origin.
