The makers of S-Town sued

The estate of John B. McLemore has filed a lawsuit, claiming the makers of S-Town exploited the life and death of its Bibb County subject for financial gain. (We reported Jun 14 that S-Town is to be made into a movie).

• Classical public radio station BBC Radio 3 has launched a new podcast, called Classical Fix. Due to music rights, it’s UK-only.

• Cabana post “how to survive Podcast Movement 2018”, with some suggested sessions. They’ve missed one: Tues Jul 24, 11.00am-11.45am, a panel on Audience Acquisition, hosted by Podnews’s editor, James Cridland.

• Acast launches Fantastic Adventures with Dean and Bertie; and reminds us in the same email about Films to be buried with; Neon, a podcast about the history of pop culture; and the Not Another Book Podcast.

• Radiotopia launch Everything is alive today, interviewing inanimate objects about their daily life.

• Jean-Marie Heimrath, founder of Canada’s TPX, is interviewed in FYIMusicNews about the company and podcasting in Canada.

• “Podcasts more popular than blogs” is a claim from an online marketing website, based on Google Trends data.

• Podtrac publish the top 20 [US] podcasts for June 2018. NPR’s Up First has slipped to #5; Wondery has a new entry (their first in 2018) with Sword and Scale.

• The Pew Research Center release their Audio and Podcasting Fact Sheet, with helpful data aggregated from research across the US.

• The Hindu interviews podcasters in India.

• The Editor of Podnews, James Cridland, will be on 97.3 ABC Illawarra tomorrow at 4.30pm, talking about his favourite podcasts.
