RadioPublic launches 'paid listens' monetisation for podcasters

• RadioPublic have launched something called “paid listens”: they’re paying a guaranteed US$20 CPM rate to put ads at the top and end of your podcast, as long as your listeners use the RadioPublic app. The program is open to all podcasters with no minimum traffic requirement. • Edison Research released more data around smart speakers, this time for the Country Radio Seminar. Country radio listeners (this means “listeners to country music” not rural listeners) are interestingly more likely to listen to AM/FM radio using their smart speaker.

• Cabana have signed One Part Podcast.

• Pandora posts a set of plans for 2018 including dynamic ad personalisation and a plan for shorter audio ads.

• Macmillan launch two new podcasts this month: One True Pairing and But that’s another story. They’re both represented by Midroll. The company claims over one million downloads for their Steal the Stars podcast.

• HotPod 150 is out, focusing on the issues at WNYC.

• Marvel and Stitcher release their trailer for Wolverine: the long night. It gets released on March 12, exclusively on Stitcher Premium.

• Stabl, the podcast recommendation resource, has launched a podcast consultancy: “insanely comprehensive feedback” for podcasts.

• TEAC/TASCAM have launched a new podcast called Capture Your Art, which “brings together musicians, engineers, producers, and fans to celebrate all things audio”.
