Podmio, a new podcasting monetisation platform, launches. The audio hosting platform, which uses AWS technology, includes analytics and ad insertion. It also provides an embedded player and a website for your podcast, including a Patreon-like subscription method for your audience. There’s a four-minute tour on their website.

  • Podmio has a special price for launch, but to save a further 50% on your first payment, use the promo code podnews during signup. (Hint: you save much more with a yearly plan.)
  • Are you a sports podcaster? CitiSport Radio is a new sports station on AM and DAB in London, which launches in early 2018 to a potential 12m listeners. By email, they say “CitiSport wants to support podcasters as much as we can and will be looking to work with podcasters to help promote their talents once we launch. If anyone has created content about any sport globally and that they think is good enough to be broadcast then we want to hear from them.” The email to use is jobs@citisportradio.com

  • In case you missed it: the (US) IAB released their “podcast metrics 2.0” document last week. “Common measurement practices are like oxygen. When they are absent, everyone notices immediately and the result is painful. When they are present, the industry evolves and flourishes.”

  • Whooshkaa’s Corey Layton publishes his 2018 podcast predictions. He predicts, among other things, more fiction podcasts and is bullish about Spotify’s future in podcasting. Here are more predictions, this time from the UK.

  • Audience Insights Inc makes the point that two of Canada’s biggest podcast advertisers aren’t, actually, available in Canada. Is this a missed opportunity? (More data here).
