Podcast Addict adds reviews

• Podcast Addict, a popular Android app, is to release a new version of their app today which allows listeners to review podcasts, as well as other new features. The app has also had over 500,000 ratings in the Play Store.

• In France, 22.8% of internet users listen to podcasts according to figures released from research company Médiamétrie.

• Podtrac has published their top 20 US podcasts for March. There’s only one new entry: CNN’s Coronavirus: Fact vs Fiction, which debuts at #13.

• Spotify has expanded their self-service ad platform to 18 markets across the world.

• In the UK, The Daily Telegraph uses their podcasts to drive loyalty and engagement between journalists and listeners, according to a case study by Esther Kezia Thorpe.

• Cody from Crate Media tips us off that if you’ve moved podcast host, your “old” show feed might still get found and catalogued by Google Podcasts. Best to delete old accounts and test accounts, if you’ve any. (Do a search on the Google Podcasts website). Thanks, Cody!

The Good Stuff with Deborah James launches today: “here to see families through the next eight weeks of staying in and staying positive”. Produced by Mags Creative, Deborah James is an award-winning podcaster and broadcaster.

A new daily news podcast starts today in the UK. The Smart 7, from broadcaster and journalist Jamie East, describes itself as a “news vitamin” - a daily dose of news that’s “informative, but not stuffy”.

Counter Programming from Shira Moskowitz and Arielle Nissenblatt is a new show featuring “comedy and fun facts no one knew they ever needed”, and nothing to do with The Thing Going On. They’re focusing on countertops in their first series. For example, stainless steel started being used in the 1940s, and laminate also appeared at the same time: mainly because they’re quick materials to build with, and therefore useful as America’s suburbs began being built. Now you know.

“Susie and Peter are married Masters of Wine – they really should get out more. Except, at the moment, they can’t.” Wine Blast brings wine to life, via interviews and chat, as well as your questions. Worth a listen before your “essential travel” to the wine shop.

Beware of the Leopard, the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy podcast, has a special episode this week as each panelist gets asked to write a new entry for the Guide. Related to The Thing Going On, you can hear entries on virtual meetings, isolation and, um, panic.
