Magellan have looked closely at the podcast advertising within those naughty podcasts who are manipulating the Apple Podcast Charts, and whether it differs from others. It does.

A new video sharing service called Portal has been launched. Variety reports that it’s been built with monetisation in mind, and you can charge as little as $0.01 per video. Of note for podcasters: “Portal plans to add a subscription option for individual content creators as well as the addition of audio-only content in the coming months.” (our bold).

Derek Hartley and Romaine Patterson presented a show on satellite radio for twelve years, but when that ended, they used SGrecast, a live streaming platform from StreamGuys, to enable them to “efficiently bring live broadcasts to podcasts”. The technology is producing the Derek and Romaine podcast; and a 24/7 stream.

We reported on Nov 15 that Cold, a true crime podcast from US radio station KSL, had hit the top of the Apple Podcast charts. Steven Goldstein spots this too. Of note - in spite of being #1 on Apple, the podcast wasn’t in Google Podcasts when we originally reported it. We note it’s there now.
