Formula 1 are launching their first-ever podcast, with podcast company Audioboom. Called Beyond The Grid, it’s sponsored by Bose.

Podcast host Acast appear to be quietly supporting the use of Podcast Pingback, the lightweight podcast metrics service. We’ve added detection for it in the 'more info’ section of our podcast pages: here’s an example. Our own podcast also supports it, incidentally.

Yesterday, we noted that Buzzfeed’s coverage of the new BBC Sounds app guessed that the Corporation would include third-party audio content, to which we responded that it was probably unlikely. We’ve since heard with someone familiar with the new app: it will.

China: there was a podcasting event today in Dongdaqiao in Beijing. Of note from this story: Chinese audio platform XimalayaFM is “dominant; they have twice the subscribers of iTunes”; and the registration process for attending the event was to scan a QR code.
