How do people find new podcasts to listen to? From friends and family, according to data from the Canadian Podcast Listener survey. Social media, however, isn’t far behind.

We reported on Acast Access yesterday - which offers secure premium podcasts that play in whatever app your listeners want. A number of folk have pointed us to Supporting Cast, which does much the same thing; it launched in February.

An app which rewards podcast listeners for listening, Podcoin has been 'acquired’ by the Meet Group, in a cash-free deal. Our Dec 2018 coverage noted that if you listen to podcasts for three hours a day using the app, it’ll take three months to earn $2.

Spotify is testing interactive audio ads - you shout “play now” if you want to listen to a playlist from a deodorant. It isn’t clear what technology they’re using; Pandora has signed to test with Instreamatic·ai.
