The best podcasts from Australia revealed

• In a live ceremony over the internet, the Australian Podcast Awards announced their winners for 2020. The podcast of the year was Birds Eye View, made by women incarcerated in Darwin; the listeners’ choice was Life Uncut with Britt and Laura.

• Radioplayer, a radio app, has announced it will launch in three new countries: France, Sweden and the Netherlands. The app also contains a range of podcasts in many territories.

• The NYT writes about a dispute between the unions and management at The Ringer.

• Blubrry’s Mike Dell highlights his 8 favourite podcasts. A brave man, he’s relegated his boss’s show to a section called “a few more”.

• Podurama is a free, multiplatform podcast app, which syncs between different devices. We’re on it. It appears to use the Apple Podcasts API.

• Jack Rhysider wants Spotify to stop buying podcasts. In an opinion piece, the creator of Darknet Diaries - which is available on Spotify - claims that Spotify’s use of 'adversarial interoperability’ means “audiences don’t benefit from Spotify buying exclusive rights to shows”.
