audioBoom adds a subscription fee, Osher signs with Whooshkaa, Bitcoin podcatcher

  • UK audio platform audioBoom kills the free account. US$9.99 a month will be charged from September 1, for up to 5 episodes a month and up to 10,000 plays per episode. Existing accounts will be frozen in October, and all content deleted by September 2020.

  • Interesting idea - a “minimalist podcatcher” for all podcasts to do with Bitcoin, called Kimcoin.

  • Osher Günsberg, a relatively well-known Australian podcaster and TV/radio personality, signs with podcast network Whooshkaa.

  • Frontline from PBS launches The Frontline Dispatch, a biweekly podcast. “There are some stories that are meant to be told in audio”.

  • Radio station Bainbridge Community Broadcasting realised that podcasting was better for their audience - so that’s what they do now.

  • MediaPost says that podcasting’s growing success helps radio sell ads, too.

  • Joe Media, a UK outfit, announces three podcasts - including one with LBC presenter James O’Brien.
