Apple’s 30% cut of Patreon’s creator payments
-
Patreon, which said recently that podcasters earn over $350mn a year on the platform, is saying that Apple will take 30% of all creator payments made on its iOS app by November. The Triton Digital Australian Podcast Ranker was released for July. Podnews analysis reveals an increase of more than 10% new episodes in this period. Monthly downloads were up 7.7%; listeners up 2.4%. The average number of top 200 shows per listener has also slowly increased from April, from 2.61 to 2.72. The list measures participating publishers only, over a calendar month. (There were 15% more weekdays in August vs July, making monthly comparisons not the best).
- ARN’s iHeart is #1 publisher (for listeners); the ABC is #1 publisher (for downloads); SCA’s LiSTNR is #1 sales representative.
