Exclusive: If you’ve ever wondered what bitrates or LUFS values are used by some of the world’s biggest podcasts: we’ve done the analysis. There’s a surprisingly wide range.

  • Paste Magazine posts an exclusive clip of The Onion's new podcast, A Very Fatal Murder. The podcast launches later today. The press release, in part, reads: “Hayley Price of Bluff Springs, Nebraska was a typical 17-year old-with big dreams and very clear skin. She was a high achiever. A prom queen. An animal lover. A doting girlfriend. A Libra. But one chilly Thursday morning in May, Hayley Price was found on the floor of the local bottle cap factory where her father worked. What’s more, she was dead.”

  • NPR’s Glen Weldon posts that podcasting is surprisingly intimate - partially due to the isolated headphone listening that many of us consume them by.

  • The Nerdist Podcast is no longer: host Chris Hardwick is re-branding it as ID10T and is moving it away from Nerdist Industries. Hardwick sold Nerdist Industries in 2012, and his contract with owners Legendary expired at the end of 2017.

  • This Week In Bitcoin is a new, ten-to-fifteen minute summary of news about the cryptocurrency. Hosted by a Brit in Columbia, on Libsyn.

  • The 13th Annual Podcast Awards are now open for registration. This website contains all the winners from last year.

  • Aaron Mahnke posts ten super sassy podcasting tips. They’re an amusing read - here’s number 9: “You aren’t the authority on whether or not your show is good. You’re not, sorry. Your LISTENERS are. Also, you loving your own show won’t grow the audience. But if your listeners love it, they’ll tell others. If your show isn’t growing, they aren’t telling others, therefore they don’t love it. Sorry.”

  • Podcast platform audioBoom has announced a wave of new original shows. Stats: audioBoom hosts nearly 2,800 active channels, receives over 60 million listens per month, and has over 16.5 million users in the US alone.

  • E-commerce Times writes about podcasting’s ability to generate revenue. “In the end, building a podcast audience is a commitment. It is not something that is just going to happen tomorrow”.

  • Podcasts are being used by US veterans to tell their stories and raise awareness, says website Stars and Stripes.
