  • Acast have seen their monthly listens doubling over the past year, and their podcasts have now been downloaded 1.5 billion times. The results come as the Stockholm-based company celebrates its fourth birthday.

  • Edison Research is to unveil a new study at Podcast Movement: “Podcasting’s Next Frontier: 100 Million Listeners”. (We’ll be there.)

  • Yesterday, we linked to a tweet saying Audioboom were up to date on payments; but after we published a link to it, it was deleted - along with the Twitter account it was from. (The author of the tweet says, on her LinkedIn page, that she left Audioboom in Aug 2015.) Stuart Last, the COO of Audioboom, tells us:

    I’m pleased to say that we have made great progress with payments to our partners - we’re not quite fully caught up but will be very soon. Our partners have continued to be very patient and understood that it wouldn’t be a case of us announcing the fundraise and then paying them the next day. We have made payments to more than 70 podcasts in the last five days - we are well ahead of my end of July goal for having everyone caught up. Again, I want to thank all our partners for their patience.

  • As the World Cup reaches its conclusion this weekend, Out of Play is a new podcast from Engle, highlighting the impact of the Football World Cup, but on the social and economic side. The podcast is also a vailable in French, as Lot 11.

  • Elle covers the winners of the Spotify Sound Up Bootcamp. We reported on May 14 that the company had 18,000 applicants for the ten places.

  • Castbox’s plans to be the place where you subscribe to podcasts uses the blockchain. Wondery will be first to use it.

  • Gameday Media Enterprises CEO John Largent is stepping down from hosting their flagship podcast Tailgate Radio. The new host is Gylon Jackson.

  • Podtrac say their figures have always been “consistent with the best practices outlined in the IAB Podcast Metrics 2.0 document”.
