    Podcast information website Podchaser has launched a new API, allowing podcast apps to use ratings/reviews, credits and additional features. There's a free and premium tier, and an OAuth login to enable ratings and reviews direct from any app or website.

    The “person” tag is nearing consensus with help from Podchaser to provide links and verification. It will provide a way for apps and aggregators to track and display hosts, co-hosts, guests and other people associated with podcasts and podcast episodes.

    Heads-up: Podchaser is soon to launch a feature that lets you find podcasts based on who you already follow on Twitter and Facebook. They suggest ensuring your Podchaser listing includes your Twitter and Facebook account.

    We'd expect the announcement of a new CEO for Pocket Casts shortly: it's likely to be John W Gibbons. Based in LA, he's a strategic advisor to Podchaser, and worked at IMDb and Amazon for 14 years.

    After WWDC, Apple executives have been making appearances on podcasts. Apple Marketing VP Bob Borchers and Product Manager Ronak Shah appeared on Upgrade; Apple SVP Craig Federighi talked on Waveform; John Gruber's The Talk Show snagged Federighi and VP Greg Joswiak. Apple Podcasts' boss Ben Cave? Not so much. We need more aloof British accents in podcasting, Ben.

    Another day, another podcast app. LSTN promises "a new podcast listening app focusing on discoverability and privacy", and appears to use Podchaser data for reviews. It's iOS only for now.

Our Editor, James Cridland, will be appearing alongside Kara Swisher, Podchaser's Bradley Davis, the BBC's Commissioning Editor of Podcasts for BBC Sounds Jason Phipps, and podcast producer Dr Siobhán McHugh.     The first speakers for Podcast Festival have been announced - a global online event focusing on the future of podcasting, on May 28. Kara Swisher from recode; Bradley Davis from Podchaser, and our Editor, James Cridland.

    For every review, Podchaser is paying 25 cents to Meals on Wheels America. It's extended its reviews4good program until the end of April. Libsyn and Captivate are also matching all donations for podcasts on their platform, and if a podcast replies to the review, that doubles the money. (Our Editor is on Captivate's advisory board.     The "IMDB of podcasting " Podchaser hit three million creator credits (hosts, producers, etc) in December. They've just hit 4 million.

    Podcast discovery website Podchaser has added a recommendation feature. You can recommend podcasts, episodes or creators to your friends on the service or via email - and we like their example of a creator to follow.

The Feed is a brand new social timeline that leverages Podchaser's unique database to feature real time guest appearances, recent reviews, new releases, and much, much more. Want in?     Podchaser is opening early access signups today to an upcoming feature, called a "Social Feed". This gives a social timeline that features guest appearances, reviews, new releases and more data from Podchaser's unique database. You can sign up to the beta here (and follow Podnews here).

    Podchaser has announced 21 data partnerships of podcast websites and apps using Podchaser creator data. Services include RadioPublic, Player FM, and Podnews. "Podnews links to Podchaser from our podcast pages whenever we mention a podcast in our free daily newsletter," says our Editor, James Cridland.

    Our podcast pages have had a tweak: we now list Podchaser Creators like Answer Me This's Helen (Zaltzman) and Olly (Mann). We also show sparklines for the podcast chart information we list from Chartable, so you've a sense of whether a podcast is growing or falling. (Got data about podcasts? We'd love to integrate it).

    Podiant, a hosting and analytics platform, has announced integrations with creator platform Podchaser, a new player, support for analytics technology Podcast Pingback, and 'applause', a way for listeners to show appreciation in their web player as they listen.

    Podchaser write a profile on Curiosity Daily, a short daily podcast that helps you understand the world better with "a timely blend of cultural trends, life hacks, and developments in science and technology". One of the hosts bought us a coffee once.

    Podchaser have launched their Podchaser Creator pages, billing them as "pages that allow listeners to follow, share, and learn about the podcast creators who build the podcasts they love". Registering early also gets you a free t-shirt from TeePublic branded with your own podcast artwork.

    Podchaser has added custom lists to its service, so you can share lists of your favourite podcasts. We're also told that they'll be taking professional headshots at their Podcast Movement booth.
