    Danish premium podcast company Podimo released a financial report for 2022. Revenue tripled from DKK 45mn (US$6.7mn) in 2021 to DKK 152mn (US$33.7mn) in 2022; but the company's losses also tripled, to DKK 328mn (US$49mn). Talking about the deficit, CEO Morten Strunge is quoted as saying “When we enter a new market, we must have a minimum catalog of content from day one. After all, you can't just launch a subscription service with one podcast."

    A study by the Observatorio Nebrija del Español at Nebrija University in Madrid examined 263 original podcasts published last year by Amazon Music, Audible, Cuonda, iVoox, Podimo, Podium Podcast, Sonora and Spotify. The study discovered that 68% of original podcasts from these companies were only available with a paid subscription. Sonora led Spanish podcast production in 2022, with 84 original podcasts.

    It Can’t Just Be Me is a new podcast from Podimo and Mags Creative, hosted by UK agony aunt Anna Richards. Anna’s first guest is Married At First Sight’s Mel Schilling. Mel is a dating coach and therapist who brings her decades of experience from the dating world as well as her own dating history to help answer listener Rachel’s dilemma - ‘is it possible to stay friends with your ex?’

    New from Podimo and Mags Creative, It Can’t Just Be Me launched earlier this week. Anna Richardson, a TV presenter and qualified hypnotherapist, hosts this sex and relationships podcast answering dilemmas sent in from listeners across the UK.

    Podimo has launched Cold Blood: Nordic True Crime today. The Denmark-born podcast series has already been translated into 6 languages and reached #1 in the Polish charts. Now in English, each episode will delve into startling crimes from Scandinavia - crimes that have dominated headlines and gripped the region. Among others, it looks at a two year bombing spree in Denmark, where the only lead was a series of mysterious letters.

    Originally written by media company Vespucci, and translated and produced in 5 additional languages by Podimo, The Darkness Vaults launches in English today. It's a collection of true crime stories and investigations, and is the second instalment in Podimo's true crime series.

    Podcast and audiobook subscription service Podimo is to expand to Mexico. The company says the number of users who consume podcasts in the country has increased by 70% in the last four years.

    Podimo has bought Dag en Nacht, the largest podcast publisher in the Netherlands. Dag en Nacht have over 60 shows; some will be placed behind Podimo's monthly €5 (US$5.50) paywall.

    Copenhagen-based podcast production company Podimo has secured $78m of funding. The subscription company hosts more than 950 original shows, and plans to move into new markets.

    The second keynote session at Podcast Movement Virtual looked at emerging podcast markets across the world. Our Editor hosted it; panelists were Norman Chella from Malaysia, who hosts the Podlovers Asia podcast; Paula Rogo from Kenya, who runs the Pods4Africans newsletter; and Núria Net from Spain, from the boutique podcast publisher La Coctelera Music, currently in the middle of several productions for Podimo, Audible and others.

    Developers: The open list of podcast useragents on Github now has The Economist's podcast app, Podimo's user-agent details, and RadioPublic's new user-agent. Visible here, it's used in production by a number of podcast hosts.

    Noted: Podimo, a Danish "Netflix of podcasting" to launch later this year, promises "a compensation model that rewards all podcasters for their work - whether it’s a niche podcast with a handful of dedicated listeners, or a well-known show with a massive following."
