In London, the winners of the British Podcast Awards were announced. Podnews's Sam Sethi handed the Gold award for Best News & Current Affairs podcast, supported by Campaign, to The Guardian's Today in Focus. Podcast of the Year was awarded to the BBC Radio Wales show A Positive Life: HIV from Terrence Higgins to Today, hosted by singer-songwriter Sam Smith.

The final shortlist for the British Podcast Awards 2023 Listeners Choice Awards have been announced. They are… Help I Sexted My Boss (Audio Always, Acast); RedHanded (Wondery); Live, Laugh, Love - Ladbaby (Global); The Girls Bathroom (Sophia & Cinzia, Acast); and Staying Relevant (Sam Thompson & Pete Wicks, Insanity Studios, Bauer Media).

After criticism, the British Podcast Awards has lowered ticket pricing for the awards ceremony in September. Pricing is now tiered based on company size.

London's Evening Standard reports "Anger from podcasters as (the) British Podcast Awards charges £300 (US$388) to attend". Tickets last year were just £75 (US $97). Haymarket, who bought the awards last year, point to a bursary scheme that can be applied for, and says the awards event has been moved to a central London venue.

Podnews is to launch a series of local day-long conferences, starting with Podnews Live - North, an event on June 13 at the Lowry Centre (above) in Salford, Gtr Manchester, UK. Among the speakers will be Sophie Hind from Voiceworks, Ian Forrester from BBC R&D, Kate Cocker from Everyday Positivity, and our Editor, James Cridland. Built to help those in the business of podcasting effectively network, tickets are now on sale (at an early-bird price); and a further event is planned in London the day before the British Podcast Awards.

The British Podcast Awards 2022 winner's ceremony took place on Saturday. Podcast of the year was Dear Daughter from the BBC World Service - a show hosted by Namulanta Kombo, the Kenyan winner of the BBC World Service International Podcast Competition which we covered last year. International publisher and event company Haymarket has bought the company behind the British Podcast Awards, and similar awards in Ireland and Australia. Haymarket has plans to expand its position in audio.

The British Podcast Awards, powered by Amazon Music, are about to reveal their nominees: 1pm UK time, 8am New York time, on their website. Hosting the stream are Hannah and Suruthi, the presenters of the popular true crime podcast Redhanded. They'll also be revealing the in-person location for this year's awards.

The winners of the British Podcast Awards 2020 were announced over the weekend, in a gitzy, star-studded live ceremony. You can hear a selection of winners on this Spotify playlist, and you can hear the awards again tomorrow on BBC Radio 4 Extra. The winner of the Podcast of the Year was Brown Girls Do It Too from the BBC Asian Network; the Listeners' Choice award went to Sh**ged Married Annoyed from Rosie and Chris Ramsey.

The British Podcast Awards will be announced in a virtual ceremony on their website this Saturday at 7.30pm UK time. The show will be hosted by BBC Radio 1's Clara Amfo, with the help of BBC 6Music's Rhianna Dhillon alongside the biggest names in broadcasting and podcasting.

The British Podcast Awards have announced that their awards will take place in a new, larger venue on May 16 - The Roundhouse in London, with space for 750 people. Overlooking the fifty judges will be last year's winner, George The Poet. They've released five new categories. Acast is the new title sponsor for the awards; and it's open now for entries.

The British Podcast Awards and Wellcome have announced the eleven successful recipients of the Pulse Award, sharing £50,000 of funding for podcasts that drive conversations around public health.

The British Podcast Awards has today launched a £50,000 funding scheme that offers financial support to podcasters to enhance their shows called The BPA Fund. Starting with partner Wellcome, The Pulse Award will award podcasts with grants of up to £5,000 to make health-focused features, episodes and short series that engages listeners in science and health research. You've until November 17 to apply.

The BBC has announced that a second season of Have You Heard George's Podcast? from George the Poet will be on BBC Sounds this quarter. At this year’s British Podcast Awards it won four gold awards, two silver and Podcast of the Year.

From New York NY, USA, Daddy-Less Issues is a 'hilariously dark' podcast which tackles the difficult issue of discussing parental loss in a 'brilliantly comedic way', and publishes a new episode on Tuesday.
