Following the acquisition of Podchaser by Acast, Acast's Ross Adams and Podchaser's Bradley Davis will be on the Podland podcast this Thursday. Meanwhile, Mathew Passy wonders if the acquisition enables Acast to "spam more podcasters", Matt Cundill wonders whether to keep information on Podchaser, and Blubrry's Todd Cochrane says he'll pull all his shows because of Acast's "spamming and poaching". Acast is to acquire Podchaser, the "world’s most comprehensive and authoritative podcast database" in a deal worth $34m. Podchaser, which is expected to make a profit next year, will continue to operate as a separate brand: it contains data of more than 4.5m million podcasts, including advertising information. The integration will bring additional data to Acast's advertisers.

Podchaser Pro users with the Sponsors add-on can now access brand pages for the top 2,000+ brands. Users can see how many times a brand has sponsored the top 5,000+ podcasts and the brand’s estimated ad spend for each show.

Sleep Music or 1 Hour Calming Clinical Hypnosis Meditation Music - Fall Asleep in 5 Minutes, or 3 HOURS Guitar Relaxing Music for Stress Release, Deep Sleep, Meditation - it seems to be a set of music tracks to promote a hynosis business in New York ON, Canada.

Podchaser has refreshed their creator profiles and alerts, and made it simpler to follow creators across different shows. In terms of language, they're now referring to roles as "Credits". We've followed suit (like our listing for Podland).

Podcast host Captivate now sends podcast credits automatically to Podchaser, using the Podcast Taxonomy to make it clear who does what. Podnews's Editor is an advisor to Captivate; Podjobs also supports the Podcast Taxonomy.

Podcast discovery and listening app Moonbeam now offers ratings and reviews powered by Podchaser. It's the latest company to use Podchaser's data.

The Pulte Podcast is clearly on to a good thing - just one rating in Podchaser, but 2,034 ratings in Apple Podcasts. 1,481 of those reviews came in in just three days in August. They're genuine reviews, though: if you wondered, he asks listeners for their CashApp ID when subscribing, and rewards some people for their five star ratings with $100 or even $150.

Podchaser has acquired Podrover and Podcharts. Podrover helps podcasters track their podcast reviews; Podcharts gives podcast chart ranking history. No terms were given.

Apple Marketing VP Bob Borchers and Product Manager Ronak Shah appeared on Upgrade; Apple SVP Craig Federighi talked on Waveform; John Gruber's The Talk Show snagged Federighi and VP Greg Joswiak. Apple Podcasts' boss Ben Cave? Not so much. We need more aloof British accents in podcasting, Ben.

Big numbers: Podchaser says they just surpassed 6,000,000 podcast credits; while we hear that Great British Podcasts, the weekly podcast recommendations newsletter from the British Podcast Awards, has just signed up its 100,000th subscriber.

In both cases, the artwork contains the potty-mouthed word, though. The naughty words are not censored in Castbox, Overcast, Luminary, Podchaser, RadioPublic and Spotify; and this one isn't censored in Google Podcasts either.
