Stereoactive Media launches Season 2 of When We See Each Other, featuring BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ artists

Press Release · New York, NY, USA · via Stereoactive Media ·

Stereoactive Media is proud to finally officially relaunch When We See Each Other with the first new episode of the podcast in over three years. The show originally ran bi-weekly from July 2020 to August 2021 and, over the course of 29 episodes, host Nikkiesha McLeod (them/they) conducted interviews with twenty musicians, most of whom are BIPOC, queer, trans, or nonbinary.

This relaunch has been in the works for months and the first episode (featuring queer, trans, indie-pop musician SuperKnova) was recorded back in mid-September, well before the November 5th U.S. election. With this in mind and as much as we wish circumstances didn’t make it so, hearing the stories of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ voices is even more important now than it was when the episode was recorded – and especially the voices of trans and nonbinary folks who have been very specifically targeted by the incoming regime.

The stories heard on this show are ones of positivity and tend to invoke the power of music and art in the realization and expression of ideas and identity. They stand in clear contrast to the misinformation and bigotry that is much too pervasive in our world and we hope listeners will connect with what these artists have to say, ultimately supporting them and their work.

As part of the show’s relaunch, we’re also consciously expanding the focus of the show to include artists of any and all types, rather than musicians exclusively. For instance, Episode 2 will feature a conversation with author and activist Najla Said about her views on the conflict in Gaza, her work (including her book, Looking for Palestine: Growing Up Confused in an Arab-American Family) and her father, Palestinian-American academic and activist Edward Said.
