“UP IN SMOKE”, a true-crime podcast about a fictional mystery starring Mei Mac and Adam Buxton, to launch on October 22nd
Digital production studio Penny4 are due to release their first podcast on Tuesday October 22nd.
Starring Olivier Award nominee Mei Mac (RSC) and Adam Buxton (The Adam Buxton Podcast), UP IN SMOKE is a true-crime podcast about a fictional mystery.
Ten years after a teenage boy disappears in a horrific house fire, disgraced tabloid journalist Kay McAllister (Mei Mac) starts a podcast to prove to the world what really happened to Mason Miller - however implausible.
Through both modern day presenting and her own archive tape, Kay recounts the 2014 fire, the bizarre happenings in its wake, her questionable ethics as a reporter, and how DCI Roy Burgess (Adam Buxton) came to convict an innocent man.
UP IN SMOKE is not a radio play. It is a dark, supernatural drama told in the style of a factual, true-crime investigative podcast.
It’s Serial meets Twin Peaks.
With a hybrid fiction and factual production team, UP IN SMOKE is purposely written, produced and presented as if it were a real podcast series, about real events that happened to real people.
The eight-part series launches with two episodes on Tuesday October 22nd.
