Untold Killing introduces Season 2 of its award-winning podcast on 7 April 2022.

Whereas Season 1 told the story of the Bosnian genocide in which more than 8,000 Bosniak-Muslims were murdered in Srebrenica, a small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and which is often referred to as the worst atrocity on European soil since the Holocaust, all-new Season 2 explores the story of Prijedor - one Bosnian municipality’s descent from a peaceful, multi-ethnic society into a collection of burning towns and torture-filled concentration camps.

30 years ago, as the world watched the disintegration of Yugoslavia, ordinary people were systematically identified as the ‘other’ and divided by their ethnicities. Already at the start of the Bosnian war in the spring of 1992, these divisions were manifesting in a sinister and calculated way. There were areas where thousands of Bosnian Muslims and Croats were detained, tortured, and killed in concentration camps run by their countrymen, Bosnian Serbs.

In August 1992, a group of reporters managed to reach the two concentration camps where the Bosnian Serbs kept their detainees. Award-winning British reporter Ed Vulliamy was among the key journalists in the group. His reporting on what he witnessed shook the world and opened people’s eyes on the previously unreported genocide.

Over six episodes, the podcast explores the camps’ political, international, and ideological implications, the personal stories of the Bosniaks held there, and the long-lasting effects on the camp survivors and their families, who now live scattered across the world.

Untold Killing is a podcast by British Charity Remembering Srebrenica UK in partnership with podcast production company Message Heard. The Bosnian-American Genocide Institute and Education Center (BAGI) is a fundraising supporter..
