Transit Unplugged Celebrates 400 Episodes and Enters Year 10 with Exclusive Interview and Industry Retrospective
Transit Unplugged, the world’s leading podcast for public transit executives, is celebrating its 400th episode as the program enters its 10th year, marking a major milestone for one of the industry’s most recognizable platforms for leadership conversations in transit.
The special episode features an exclusive interview with Mark Miller, President of Constellation Software Inc. and Executive Chairman of the Volaris Group, who reflects on the early vision for the podcast and the importance of creating a platform where transit leaders can share ideas and learn from one another.
Hosted by Paul Comfort, Transit Unplugged has spent nearly a decade documenting the leaders, innovations, and ideas shaping public transportation across North America and around the world.
The 400th episode also includes:
- A 10-year retrospective exploring how public transportation—and the podcast itself—has evolved
- A behind-the-scenes conversation with producer Chris O’Keeffe about the growth of the show and the changing landscape of podcasting
- A listener mailbag segment with Executive Producer Julie Gates, reflecting on memorable moments from the program’s history
“When we started Transit Unplugged, the goal was simple: create a place where transit leaders could talk honestly about what’s working, what’s not, and where the industry is headed,” said Paul Comfort, host of Transit Unplugged and Chief Customer Officer at Modaxo.
“Four hundred episodes later, what’s most gratifying isn’t the number — it’s the community that’s grown around these conversations and the trust leaders have placed inus to tell their stories. This episode is a chance to reflect on how far public transportation has come and where it’s going next.”
“The Transit Unplugged franchise is a love letter to the transit industry,” said Executive Producer Julie Gates. “It is an honor to showcase the exceptional leadership and innovation transit brings to our communities while driving our local economies. Thanks to the 8-year heritage of this podcast, we are now able to expand our footprint and share these inspirational transit stories through our YouTube program Transit Unplugged TV, the weekly Transit Unplugged News Minute, and beyond. This is an industry worth celebrating, and we are proud to be a part of it.”
Producer Chris O’Keeffe says the show’s longevity comes down to the value it provides to listeners across the industry.
“Access to real expertise is what makes this show special,” said O’Keeffe. “I was a fan of Transit Unplugged long before I joined the team because it connects listeners directly with the leaders shaping the industry. In podcasting, a decade can feel like a century — the medium has gone through waves of disruption and reinvention. Shows like this endure because they remain clear, direct, and honest.”
Over the past decade, Transit Unplugged has grown from a traditional interview podcast into a broader media platform for the transit industry, expanding into video programming, live industry coverage, and weekly news content through initiatives like Transit Unplugged TV and the Transit Unplugged News Minute.
The 400th episode is available now on all major podcast platforms and on YouTube.
