Former WNYC Studios VP & BBC Commissioning Editor Tony Phillips Joins Broccoli Content as Chief Content Officer

Tony Phillips, former Vice President for On-Demand Content at WNYC studios and Commissioning Editor for BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service, joins Broccoli Content as Chief Content Officer in March 2020.
Phillips role will be to scale Broccoli’s ambitions and develop international partnerships with key talent and producers.

At WNYC Studios, home to many critically acclaimed and popular podcasts of the last decade, Phillips was the editorial and management lead on a number of shows including Freakonomics Radio and A Piece of Work with Abbi Jacobson, a partnership with the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Prior to joining WNYC, Phillips was a Commissioning Editor for BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service, where he was responsible for commissioning 300 features and documentaries a year. His commissions included The Listening Project for Radio 4 and Open-Eye, a multi-platform series presented by leading photo-journalists combining compelling audio documentary-making and short-form photo-films.
Phillips joins Broccoli Content as the London-based audio production company launches its third podcast series after entering into a joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment in autumn 2019. Anthems is a bold collection of highly-produced 31 original manifestos, speeches, stories, poems and rallying cries written and voiced by exceptional women across Britain released every day for the month of March as part of International Women’s Day. Broccoli’s growing slate also includes their flagship series Your Broccoli Weekly and Money 101 for BBC Sounds.
