Indie Irish podcasters come together to launch a new podcast network
This article is at least a year old
Award-winning Irish podcasters Julien Clancy, Liam Geraghty and Colette Kinsella have banded together to create The Warren – a new network of the most remarkable and innovative podcasts in Ireland. The Warren will be home to six Irish podcasts initially with more to come down the road. The line-up features a diverse mix of shows on pop culture, wildlife, drama, science and much more.
Julien, Liam and Colette felt there was a gap in Ireland for a network of quality, independently produced podcasts so they decided to set up their own. All three are seasoned audio producers and presenters who regularly create radio work for RTÉ, BBC and NPR, among others.
Podcast listeners can browse the shows on www.thewarren.ie The shows are Petrified, Dublin Story Slam, The Critter Shed, Meet Your Maker, How to be Sound and Science Drops!
Speaking at the announcement Liam said, “We’ve gathered a gaggle of the best podcasters in the country to build a community who share a passion for storytelling and high quality production."
Colette added, “We all loves stories – telling them and listening to them. We’re really excited about bringing together some of the most innovative and thought-provoking storytellers in Ireland. Great stories, well told, beautifully produced – what is there not to love!”
The Podcasts
The Critter Shed is a podcast about the weird and wonderful side of nature - about things like spider sex, venom-packing frogs, or mind-controlling parasites! Oh, and it’s in a shed. It’s hosted by science research associate with Trinity College Dublin Collie Ennis and producer Colette Kinsella.
Meet Your Maker is a podcast about the people who make the things we love with episodes about everything from Muppet puppeteers to role play Gardaí! Bello Collective named Meet Your Maker as one of 100 Outstanding Podcasts in 2018 and it appeared on Radio Public’s list of “17 podcasts that started in 2017 that I couldn’t imagine a world without.” Meet Your Maker won Bronze for Best Culture Podcast at the New York Festivals Radio Awards 2019. It’s produced and hosted by Liam Geraghty.
The Dublin Story Slam Podcast is a monthly series that shares extraordinary stories from ordinary Dubliners recorded live at its regular open mic storytelling night. Science Drops! is a tiny podcast that’s big on curiosity. Have you ever wondered why stars twinkle or why we have earwax? Science Drops! answers these and many questions in a quirky and fun-filled 90 seconds or less!
Petrified is a horror anthology podcast from a darker Ireland. These are the chilling tales of people who heard something. Something they really shouldn’t have heard. Listen at your own risk. Written and directed by Peter Dunne and produced by Liam Geraghty with Peter, Crime Reads has called Petrified “extremely well written, expertly produced and brilliantly acted” and it was listed by Image.ie as one of the top podcasts to listen to in 2019.
