Rapper, author and australian counter-culture icon Spanian announces launch of new podcast
This article is at least a year old
In the four years since his release from prison, Spanian (above, left) has evolved from an underground artist to a full-blown counterculture icon. Whether it’s his uncompromising raps or viral social media presence, Spanian doesn’t just command your attention, he snatches it without permission.
Having announced the release of his powerful, unflinching, and high-octane memoir “The Unfiltered Hood-Life” Spanian is now launching his new highly anticipated podcast The Search to document the next steps on his search for life’s truths and the lessons we can learn from each other.
The Search is an ongoing series covering a diverse range of topics and interesting lives is available across Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube or where ever you get your podcasts from 6pm on Tuesday the 19th of October.
“I’m geed to launch The Search, my own podcast. We’re gonna get into a lot of interesting topics and I’ve got a perspective that you don’t see in the media.” - Spanian
In episode one and two of THE SEARCH Spanian interviews First-nations guests Raymond Milliss & Keenan Mundine (DEADLY CONNECTIONS) who give unapologetic insights into the gritty socio-economic underbelly of Sydney city, the criminal justice system, and ultimately how they overcame tragedy and hardship to build a better life for themselves and their families.
Having spent nearly half of his life incarcerated, Spanian is only at the beginning of his journey in the outside world. THE SEARCH marks the growth of a man focussed on life after prison, and proving to be a beacon for those fighting to do the same.
“We jumped at the opportunity to work with Spanian. He is an important voice from a community which is underrepresented in the mainstream media. This encapsulates the power of podcasting and independent digital media in 2021.” Said Director of DM Podcasts Antony Stockdale.
“2021 has undeniably been the year of Spanian. It’s been a pleasure watching him evolve and take a legion of fans from marginalised communities on his journey. Rapper, author, and now podcaster, The Search is an exciting step for one of Australia’s most captivating storytellers,” said Director of One Day Entertainment, Adit Gauchan
