London, UK—The premiere of the latest season of The Orphans, Wild Tales, will take over podcast feeds this month with six new episodes featuring podcast stars Beth Eyre (Wooden Overcoats), David Ault (No Sleep Podcast), Felix Trench (Wooden Overcoats) and more will roll out starting August 25th 2020 through the Fable & Folly Network.

“I’m super excited to be able to announce the launch of Wild Tales. When Covid-19 hit, we were less than two weeks away from recording in studio and had to put everything on hold,” explains producer and show creator Zachary Fortais-Gomm. “As the pandemic stretched on, my first instinct was to shelve the series. But working with executive producer Ella Watts and James Barbarossa, we decided to tackle this as a creative challenge and in a safe manner for all involved.”

“This was not just about a new series of The Orphans . This was about bringing six amazing new writers to cinematic audio fiction,” explains Executive Producer James Barbarossa. “All as a result of The Orphans ’ writing competition, which sought out new Audio Dramatists from around the globe.” The team was blown away by the number of submissions and the calibre of these new writers. “Selecting only six was beyond challenging,” says Zachary.

The Orphans Wild Tales has a writers room made up of six new writers, many new to audio fiction. Each writer was paired with a producer as a mentor to help hone their scripts to work in a cinematic narrative audio context. “The results are six incredible stories,” shares James. “We are beyond proud to showcase these new voices and some of the best drama we’ve heard.”

All of this was at risk when the pandemic overtook the UK. We are not the only producers facing this challenge.” says Ella, “And while we’ve dabbled with remote recording cameo appearances, we had never undertaken a full-cast recording at such a scale.” The team decided to document the process and has created a series of videos and behind-the-scenes writeups that will go along with the final episodes. All of which can be found at https://www.orphanspod.com/wildtales . More will be added as the series rolls out.

Wild Tales is the fifth season of The Orphans ’ signature cinematic style. Each season tackles a separate story set in the same, ever expanding universe. Together the seasons weave a story of identity, family, and revolution. Wild Tales allows new blood to make their mark on the universe and tell their story of rebellion.
