Mushroom Case Daily team continue their court reporting with ‘The Case Of’ podcast
Given the success of the Mushroom Case Daily podcast with the Australian public, which attracted more than 11 million downloads and garnered over 8,300 letters for the Q&A section of the podcast, ABC has decided to continue its court reporting via The Case Of podcast, available on ABC listen now, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hosted by the Mushroom Case Daily host Stephen ‘Stockie’ Stockwell, the twice weekly podcast will be your eyes and ears inside the courtrooms of Australia’s biggest trials. Continuing with a similar crime procedural format, The Case Of podcast will see Stephen and ABC’s court reporters recapping trials, explaining legal processes, and unpacking the most interesting details of the cases behind the headlines.
Listeners will learn about how the court system works in each state and be invited to ask the court reporters their burning questions along the way. From the minute ‘What do jury’s get served for lunch?’ to the bigger questions ‘How circumstantial can your circumstantial evidence be?’
Beginning with the case of celebrity crocodile wrangler Matt Wright in Darwin’s Supreme Court, The Case Of episodes will release every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
Mr Wright is facing charges relating to an alleged cover-up, following a fatal helicopter crash during a crocodile egg collecting mission. The crash, which was in Arnhem Land three years ago, killed Mr Wright’s close friend and co-star Chris “Willow” Wilson.
During Matt Wright’s trial, in each episode, host Stephen Stockwell will recap the key events in court with reporter Olivana Smith-Lathouris, and reporter Matthew Garrick for further insights and analysis.
Production credits: Host and supervising producer, Stephen Stockwell. Reporters Olivana Smith-Lathouris and Matthew Garrick. Executive Producer, Clare Rawlinson. Commissioning Executive Producer, Tim Roxburgh. Manager, Audio Studios, Eric George.
