TED Audio Collective Partners with Transmitter Media to Bolster Creative Storytelling
This article is at least a year old
Creative podcast company Transmitter Media and TED Audio Collective, a collection of podcasts for the curious, have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership for Transmitter to co-develop and produce a slate of ambitious podcast storytelling and conversation shows for TED. The partnership will enable new seasons from established TED shows like WorkLife with Adam Grant and TED Business, as well as an array of expanded and new podcasts.
TED and Transmitter began working together in 2017 to create the inaugural season of WorkLife, which averages over a million ears per episode and has spent multiple weeks as the #1 show on the Apple Podcasts chart. Since then, they have co-developed and produced a range of projects, including Body Stuff with Dr. Jen Gunter, Am I Normal? with Mona Chalabi, and award-winning ad stories, via TED Partnerships.
“We’ve always deeply valued our partnership with Transmitter and are thrilled to be cementing our relationship with them through this multi-year agreement,” said TED’s Director of Audio, Michelle Quint. “They’ve been an ideal creative partner for us in establishing the Collective, and we have great ambitions to build even further. We look forward to a head-turning, successful partnership.”
“The match between TED and Transmitter has been extraordinarily fruitful and generative, from day one,” says Transmitter’s founder and CEO Gretta Cohn. “They bring top tier thinkers and storytellers, and a sharp and creative editorial sensibility. Our ambitious team is able to explore story, develop formats and take creative risks, and we’ve been delighted to see how the work has resonated with listeners.”
Transmitter Media was founded by Gretta Cohn in 2017 and is the Peabody-nominated creative production company behind chart topping and critically acclaimed podcasts like Finding Fred, Meltdown, and Rebel Eaters Club. Transmitter has grown rapidly since launch, now supporting a staff of 14 and producing a number of ongoing and limited run shows annually, in addition to its work for the TED Audio Collective. Transmitter’s imaginative work explores humanity through creative, intentional, and inclusive storytelling.
The TED Audio Collective is a collection of podcasts for listeners curious about everything from philosophy and psychology to science, technology, business and unexpected pathways in between—all curated through TED’s lens of “ideas worth spreading.” TED is one of the top 20 podcast publishers, according to Podtrac, reaching millions of listeners from virtually every country on the planet.
