“Supermarket”, A Sitcom Podcast, Celebrates 100,000 Global Downloads

Press Release ·

911 Podcasts, the podcast network that brings fictional shows to the forefront, is celebrating their sitcom series Supermarket surpassing 100,000 global downloads! The show has also been played in over 90 countries and has garnered a worldwide cult following. This is the third fictional series from the network. ICE-CREAM (Horror) and Cascadia (Sci-Fi/Thriller), series preceding Supermarket, have also found the same global success.

‘Supermarket’ follows sitcom superstar Carson Carson, who gets blacklisted in Hollywood (and society) from his grotesque sextape leak. Now, with his tail between his legs, he is forced to head back to his small town and attempt to reboot his life, by working at the local supermarket. Throughout the series, Carson will have to unlearn his Hollywood ways and come back down to earth, while simultaneously, his supermarket co-workers will have to learn how to work with an out-of-touch actor, at the peak of an international scandal.

Supermarket made fans laugh around the world with its hilarious 6-episode 1st season, featuring an extraordinary ensemble cast of comedian actors. Adam Murciano (‘Cascadia’ & ‘ICE-CREAM’) plays the leading role of Carson Carson, the out-of-touch actor who struggles to be a “normie” as he attempts to work at the supermarket, after living ten years as a Hollywood star. Sugith Varughese (Netflix’s ‘Kim’s Convenience’) plays Suheil Singh, the Supermarket owner, who is constantly wrangling Carson out of trouble.

Alexandria Benoit (‘Degrassi’) plays Ember, Carson’s arch nemesis, at the supermarket. Ryan Rosery (‘Riverdale’) plays Elijah, the stoner and Carson’s friend. The series features many more colourful characters, including fun Guest Stars like Graham Parkhurst (Netflix’s ‘Glamorous’) and Brennan Clost (Netflix’s ‘Tiny Pretty Things’). The series is directed by Antonio Cordero who has also directed the previous two series in the 911 Podcasts catalogue.

Early last year, Supermarket cast members Adam Murciano and Sugith Varughese appeared in a sitdown interview with E-Talk, a Canadian entertainment talk show, which broadcasted nationally:

Additional marketing strategy for the series was created in the form of animation. Fans can enjoy animated clips of each episode, featured on the 911 Podcasts Instagram. This was intended to give listeners a visual experience of the show. Animations were created and designed by the series director, Antonio Cordero.

Supermarket is available to stream for free on all podcast platforms. Season 2 is in early stages of pre-production, and set to be released later this year.
