SupaPass appoints Steve Ackerman as Non-Executive Director
SupaPass, the direct-to-audience technology platform for modern media companies and creator-led brands, is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Ackerman as a Non-Executive Director to its board.
Steve is the former Executive Vice President and Head of Global Podcasts for Sony Music, and prior to that was co-owner of multi-platform production company Somethin’ Else, which was acquired by Sony Music in 2021.
SupaPass helps media companies bring content, membership, subscriptions and community together through their own branded websites and native apps. The platform is built around a simple principle: your audience, your data, your revenue. It enables businesses to develop direct relationships with their audiences, turn followers into members and customers, gain first-party audience insight, and reach them directly through their own feeds and push notifications.
For 15 years, SupaPass has innovated at the intersection of content, subscriptions, apps and community, building a deep understanding of how creators and media businesses turn audience attention into direct relationships.
Today, SupaPass sees the next major opportunity for media businesses as giving their most engaged audiences somewhere of their own to go deeper, turning reach from third-party platforms into direct relationships, recurring revenue and long-term value around their brands and IP.
SupaPass helps over 10,000 creators globally, with more than 2 million pieces of content delivered through the platform. The company is now expanding its focus on established creator-led media businesses, podcast networks, studios, talent businesses and media groups.
Juliana Meyer, CEO and founder of SupaPass, said:
“Steve has been one of the pioneers of the podcast and digital content industry in the UK and US and brings a wealth of experience in how content creators and media businesses build closer relationships with their audiences.
“The opportunity we see now is bigger than simply helping creators monetise content: it’s about helping media companies turn the attention they’ve earned into deeper, more valuable relationships with the people who care most about their brands. We’ve always believed the most valuable audience relationships are direct ones, and that belief is now becoming central to the media industry. That is exactly what SupaPass is built for, and Steve’s experience will be hugely valuable as we continue our growth in the UK, Europe and US.”
Steve Ackerman said: “SupaPass is already an impressive business that sits in the sweet spot of how content creators and media companies build loyal and returning fanbases. I’m delighted Juliana has asked me to help the company in their next stage of growth. I am incredibly excited by SupaPass’ offering and how it sits in the crucial area between content and community.”
