ABC News’ “Start Here” Podcast Celebrates Its 2,000th Episode

Start Here, ABC News’ daily news podcast, will publish its 2,000th episode on Monday, December 1. The milestone episode will highlight the biggest stories of the day and close with a special edition of its signature segment, “One Last Thing,” celebrating the scope and impact of the show including: the places we’ve traveled, the interviews that stayed with us, and the voices that have shaped our mornings, capped with a “thank you” to listeners for their time, trust, and loyalty over nearly eight years.

Since its launch in March 2018, “Start Here” has provided listeners with a straightforward look at the day’s top news in under 30 minutes. Additionally, the show has featured enterprising reporting on topics like real estate prices, long COVID effects on the labor market and the Protecting Your Vote series. Host Brad Mielke has covered some of the world’s biggest events including the 2024 presidential election, COVID-19 pandemic, war in Ukraine, and historic environmental crisis such as the Los Angeles wildfires while also highlighting impactful figures in the world today, like Bill Gates and Dr. Valerie Jones-Pryor, interviewing guests from all seven continents, in outer space, and under the sea.

The show has earned numerous honors, including the Edward R. Murrow Award for Innovation, Excellence in Sound, and Continuing Coverage; Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast; National Press Club Award from the New York Festivals Radio Awards for its coverage of the Dobbs decision; and Signal Award for News & Politics – Shows.
