Spotify’s Caso 63 returns for a second season and will be adapted to English

On the heels of its success across Spanish speaking Latin America, Caso 63, a Spotify Original podcast produced in Santiago, Chile, has been locally adapted in Brazil as Paciente 63 and in India as Virus 2062. The series will be adapted in English in the United States later in 2021. This marks the first time a Spotify Original podcast from one of the non-English speaking markets has been adapted into multiple languages, including English, highlighting Spotify’s global audio reach and commitment to bringing high-quality storytelling to all markets and regions around the world.

Caso 63 ranked #1 in the Top Charts for nearly a month in Argentina & Mexico post-premiere, #1 in the Trending Charts across 5 countries: Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico & the United States. In India, the adaptation, Virus 2062, reached at #1 on Spotify’s local Trending chart, and was in the top 5 on Spotify’s local Top Podcasts charts. Paciente 63, the Brazilian adaptation, ranked #1 in Brazil’s local Trending Podcasts chart the day after its premiere, and remained there for over two weeks. Paciente 63 also reached #1 on Brazil’s Fiction charts, and remained there for over a month. The success of the podcast across various regions solidifies the efforts of Spotify Studios to spotlight local talent that tell a universal story. Total fiction podcasts on Spotify have increased tremendously over the past year including: over 50% increase in the US, over 120% increase in Brazil, over 400% in Argentina, and over 280% in Mexico.

Caso 63 is a fictional audio scripted series. Set in the year 2022, a psychiatrist Elisa Aldunate begins a series of therapy sessions with “Patient 63.” As the sessions progress, time, space, and reality begin to blur, playing with listeners’ minds. The story and drama of this audio thriller builds over the course of 10 episodes, delivering thought-provoking mystery for listeners. Caso 63 was created and written by Julio Rojas, each adaptation of the podcast features renowned local talent such as Antonia Zegers (La Jauría) and Nestor Cantillana (Isabel) in Caso 63, Seu Jorge (Marighella, City of God) and Mel Lisboa (Girls from Ipanema) in Paciente 63, and Ali Fazal (Victoria and Abdul) and Richa Chadha (Gangs of Wasseypur, Masaan) in Virus 2062.
