Snippet, the world’s first short-form podcast publisher announced today the official launch of its new podcast platform and original shows.

Snippet produces high-quality podcasts with episodes that are always 20 minutes or less. New music, lifestyle, and scripted shows are added weekly, with an added focus on hosts representing diverse backgrounds.

Snippet was founded by a team of FM radio veterans, including CEO Tyler Russell McCusker, the founder of KX FM 104.7 in Laguna Beach, one of the most successful independent radio stations in the US.

“In radio, sometimes you only have twelve seconds to talk over the intro of a song and yet say something meaningful that keeps a listener’s attention. I wanted to bring that same attitude and style to podcast form, where often hosts get carried away with idle chatter, longwindedness and meandering interview skills,” said CEO Tyler Russell McCusker. “Listeners tend to consume podcasts while they are doing something else, like driving, cleaning or working, and it’s unreasonable to think that they’ll have the time and the willingness to commit to a lengthy show. Snippet is the solution to this, and we are excited to share our quality podcasts with our audiences.”

Snippet works with creators to produce, publish, distribute and market omni-channel podcasts. The publisher looks for never-before-heard hosts with unique stories who captivate audiences in short episodes with excellent production value. The monetization model is 50% to the host and 50% to Snippet along with additional revenue opportunities in paid sponsorships, testimonials, and brand integrations.

Right now, 28% or 80 million Americans are weekly podcast listeners. There are now 10 million more weekly podcast listeners than the 69 million Netflix account owners in the U.S. This indicates that audio media is just as important to consumers as video.

Available hosts and podcasts include:

  • Rockabilly Confidential: from Slim Jim Phantom, the drummer of the Stray Cats.
  • The Conundrum of Cora Bay: a scripted mystery/drama with ensemble voice acting cast
  • Rave’s Indie Radar: former Capitol Records A&R Bruce Rave debuts emerging indie tracks
  • Boy Meets 90s: a deep dive into the culture and music of the 90s with host Tyler Russell
  • In the Cockpit with Ariel Tweto: Discovery Channel and IMAX star takes you on a weekly journey where you’ll discover the world
  • Closet Space: host Vick Ravindran features coming-out stories from LGBTQIA+ individuals with a comedic, casual style.

Snippet does not shorten existing programs like other services. It does not speed up dialogue like 26% of podcast listeners already do. Instead, it aims to create compelling listening experiences that get straight to the point from the moment you press play. You can find Snippet’s shows on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, SoundCloud and other popular podcast platforms.
