Press Release ·

This article is at least a year old

David Seaman’s Seaman Says podcast has signed to be part of the Sport Social Podcast Network (Sport Social), with an agreement to host, monetise and distribute the hit show.

The podcast, fronted by England and Arsenal legend David Seaman, will now be hosted on the network, with new episodes of the show released twice a week across all major podcast platforms.

Seaman Says is produced by Manchester based Listening Dog Media, an audio production company behind other chart-topping shows including The Last Word, a podcast hosted by Stan Collymore. Since launching Seaman Says in 2021, the show has become known for its hard-hitting interviews with sport legends including Paul Gascoigne, Jurgen Klinsmann, Sir Mo Farah and Faye White.

Seaman Says is one of many popular sports podcasts to join the Sport Social network in recent months. Recent additions include Wisden Cricket and The Late Braking F1, plus The Joe Marler Show and The Geraint Thomas Cycling Club, following a partnership with podcast creators Crowd Network in May.

The spate of new shows comes as Sport Social celebrates over 2.4m monthly downloads. The network launched in February 2021, creating a dedicated podcast platform to bring together sports content creators. The sport podcast market has undergone significant growth in this time. Spotify AB stats show a threefold growth in sport shows in 18 months, with Podtrac data showing a 124% year-on-year increase in downloads in 2022.

Supporting its podcast creators to grow and monetise shows, Sport Social allows shows of all sizes to access advertising and sponsorship and enables cross-promotion between network shows.

Jim Salveson, Head of Sport Social Podcast Network, said: “Entering into a partnership with the Seaman Says team is a major win for Sport Social, and the icing on the cake following a brilliant year as a global podcast network.

“When we launched, we’d seen real opportunity to help support and grow the riches of sport podcasting talent by bringing them together under one roof. And it’s paying off - reaching over 2.4m downloads and building a growing global community are milestones we are really proud of.

“Now’s the time for us to build on this momentum, identifying brilliant shows – like Seaman Says - that we can really support by bringing them into the network. We’re excited to secure more great shows, in new sports and with new creators, as the network continues to grow in 2022.”

Callum Marks, Producer of Seaman Says added: “In the past 12 months we’ve built a show we’re proud of, creating an equally brilliant audience to boot. When Jim and the Sport Social team told us about their ambitions and offered us the opportunity to join the network, we jumped at the chance.

“Their experience in the sports podcast market is going to be invaluable in taking Seaman Saysto the next level – we’re definitely in safe hands with the team! We’re really excited about where the partnership between Listening Dog Media & Sport Social can take Seaman Says this season.”
