Still Game and Chewin’ the Fat star Ford Kiernan was also among the biggest winners of the night. The Ford & Shelby Show, which he hosts with Shelby May, received the evening’s top gong when it was named Podcast of the Year. The show brings together the contrasting perspectives of its two hosts as they discuss generational differences, cultural absurdities and the state of the modern world.

During his acceptance speech, Kiernan praised his co-host and described May as the “find of the century”.

Female-led podcasts were also among the big winners, including Girls Overheard, hosted by Ash Reid, Eilidh Wells, and Lauren Fairbairn, and A Lot On Your Plate, hosted by friends Jess Tedds and Zoe Quinn.

The Go Radio Business Show with Hunter and Haughey, hosted by Sir Tom Hunter and Lord Willie Haughey, was named the winner of the Business 2 Business award while A Pint and Two Shots, hosted by Stephen Purdon, Grado and Chris Toal, won the Entertainment & Pop Culture award.

The ceremony was hosted by broadcaster and podcaster Kaye Adams and former Scottish Comedian of the Year Marc Jennings, who co-hosts the Some Laugh podcast with Stephen Buchanan.

The awards were developed by Sixty Steps Productions, founded by Mark Moir, Scot Gardiner and Corrinne Gardiner, to celebrate the quality and diversity of podcasts being produced in Scotland.

According to Ofcom, almost a quarter of adults in Scotland listen to podcasts every week, the highest proportion of any UK nation, while nearly half of Gen Z are regular listeners.

Scottish Podcast Awards co-founder Corrinne Gardiner said: “What an unbelievable night. We are immensely proud to have pulled this off, and it is safe to say this will not be the last Scottish Podcast Awards.

“The quality and variety across more than 400 entries was incredible. The awards demonstrated the talent already working in Scottish podcasting and the enormous enthusiasm surrounding the sector.

“Bringing creators together like this can only make Scotland’s podcasting community stronger.

“We are grateful to all our partners, including Spotify and Go Radio, to our brilliant hosts Kaye and Marc, and above all to every podcaster who entered and joined us on the night.”
