A group of Northern podcast and radio experts have joined forces to organise a unique, one-day event for podcasters. ‘Pods Up North’, to be held in Manchester city centre, on November 23rd, is for podcast creators to learn the latest techniques, get insider-industry advice and meet other local, podcasters.

The first event of its kind in the North, has already secured big name speakers from the podcast world, including Jonathan Wall, Controller of BBC Sounds, Mike Newman Head of UK Content Partnerships at Audioboom and Katy Leeson, the Managing Director of global marketing company Social Chain, who’s excited to be a part of the inaugural event,

Pods Up North will be held in the city’s eco tech hub The Federation and is designed for established podcasters looking to take their craft to the next level, as well as those who have just started out or people are thinking about delving into the growing and hugely popular podcasting space. The event will feature talks, panel discussions and workshops ranging from technical subjects to booking guests.

Further podcast experts announced for the event, staged during the Manchester Podcast Festival include Creative Director of Folder Media, and co-creator of The British Podcast Awards Matt Deegan, popular podcast Gay and a Non Gay, Colin Gray of The Podcast Academy and Sheffield-based studio and production company Rebel Base Media.

Pods Up North is the brainchild of Manchester-based podcasters and audio experts Kate Cocker, the voice of one of Amazon’s Top Ten Flash Briefings “Everyday Positivity”, with over twenty years experience across the audio sector, Vic Turnbull who runs MIC Media a podcast social enterprise and podcaster meet up with over two hundred members and Ant McGinley, who produces Manchester based shows On The Left Side and Mondeo Law, and recently spoke at Podcast Movement in Florida, the world’s biggest podcast convention.

They explain why they decided to launch the event:

“There is so much podcasting talent in the north - at the moment people have found their own way, so we’re excited to bring people together at Pods Up North, share knowledge and help the podcasting community grow.”

Early bird tickets are on sale now until 10am on the 10th October.
