The Pod Broads launches second season with notable women podcasters

Press Release · Queens NY, United States ·

This article is at least a year old

On September 22, 2021 The Pod Broads, a podcast about women in podcasting, launched its second season with the inaugural episode featuring writer and well- known host of Thirst Aid Kit and This Is Good For You Nichole Perkins. The two discuss Perkins’ newly published memoir Sometimes I Trip on How Happy We Could Be, as well as the relationship between her writing journey and how she got into podcasting.

The themes present in the first episode (sensitivity, female pleasure, America’s problematic relationship with productivity, and navigating confessional writing and content creation) are just the start to Cohl’s investigation into what it means to be a woman in the podcasting space and how each woman’s unique experience impacts the craft. Cohl has been named by her listeners as their “podcast therapist” and someone who makes them “feel SO SEEN.”

Unlike many other podcasts about podcasting, Cohl’s focus is not a how-to nor one on tech or news; rather, it is a peak into the lived experience of women through their podcast work. In the trailer, Alexandra expresses how these episodes are also a space for women to process and reflect back on the work they’ve created that has been so influential to others. While it’s a no-brainer for fellow podcasters to listen to, it also provides advice, poignant questions, and experiences that either resonate with listeners or help them reflect upon themselves and their own lives.

Twila Dang, CEO and founder of Matriarch Digital Media, says, “You have no idea how excited I am to listen to season two of THE POD BROADS! Alexandra Cohl is such a lovely interviewer. She has crafted a terrific space for women to come and share.” And, Laura Joyce Davis of the Shelter in Place podcast remarks, “[I] really love the vulnerability and humor. It’sso human in the best way possible.”

It is the deep dive interview that so many other creators in different mediums (like film and books) are afforded, and each Wednesday new episodes drop to do just that. The trailer features the voices of some upcoming guests, including:

  • Noor Tagouri, award-winning producer and journalist and the host of Podcast Noor & Sold in America.
  • Jazmín Aguilera, award-winning producer of Snap Judgment and The Cut
  • Daryn Carp (Andy Cohen’s assistant and the host of People TV’s Reality Check) and Liz Culley (Executive Director of Entertainment Sales at Condé Nast) of Scissoring Isn’t a Thing

The season will also feature conversations with Avery Trufelman, Renay Richardson, Misha Euceph, and more.
