London, UK—London-based Podcast Radio has announced a major content deal with a US podcast producer and an expansion to the UK’s third biggest city, Manchester.

Podcast Radio will partner with Evergreen Podcasts, an Ohio-based podcast production company, and will start airing several of their top-rated podcasts over the summer. It comes after a similar deal with Radio New Zealand two months ago.

Podcast Radio started broadcasting on digital radio across London in February and starting Monday June 1st will also broadcast across Manchester. New audience figures published in May show that a record 37 million adults or 67% of the UK population now listen to radio via a digital platform including DAB radio.

Among the Evergreen podcasts to be featured on Podcast Radio will be the popular Rebel Force Radio with news, commentary, interviews and discussion about the Star Wars films presented by superfans Jason Swank and Jimmy Mac.

Another Evergreen series, Burn the Boats, will also be aired, where political leaders, influencers and other history makers talk about choices they made when failure was not an option.

Michael C. DeAloia, CEO of Evergreen Podcasts, noted: “We’ve been impressed by the concept and ambitions of Podcast Radio so we want to feature some of our podcast series to raise their profile among UK listeners”.

Podcast Radio is a broadcast and online station where listeners can discover, sample, choose and listen to new podcasts, and podcast producers are able to showcase their content.

CEO Gerry Edwards says: “We’re all about helping people with discoverability. With one million podcasts out there, listeners are bewildered by too much content and choice. Podcast Radio acts as a trusted guide to some of the more interesting and entertaining podcasts”.

To celebrate the expansion to Manchester, Podcast Radio will also feature two Manchester-made podcast series – Coming Out Stories and Distinct Nostalgia. The latter is produced by radio production company Made in Manchester which celebrates 15 years in the city this week.

Editor: Podcast Radio also airs a bespoke version of the Podnews podcast.
