Podcast Network Parcast Announces Slate of New Shows, Including First Scripted Fiction Series

Los Angeles CA, USA—Parcast** (www.parcast.com), the premier story-driven podcast network focused on scripted audio entertainment, announced today a slate of new weekly shows premiering during the first four months of 2019. This includes the expansion beyond the scripted non-fiction genre with its first fiction podcast, Mind’s Eye.

In 2018 alone, Parcast saw a nearly 200% increase in download numbers to 100+ million across all of its fully-owned audio productions. By the end of 2018, Parcast had 16 shows available for listeners up from five in the previous year. The network plans to continue its growth trajectory with over 40 new shows in development for 2019. Parcast is unique in that the network produces all of its shows in-house and owns all of its intellectual property, this includes a full staff of 18 writers and producers, up 350% from this time last year.

The new shows launching this season for Parcast include:

Mind’s Eye – Now available with new episodes premiering Mondays through Jan. 21 - The scariest monsters are those hiding inside our own minds. Plagued by nightmares, homicide detective Kate McClay enlists her radio-journalist husband get to the bottom of her horrifying dreams. In the process, Kate fights against psychology, unsolved crimes, her own family, and even a serial killer. Will Kate’s dreams ever end? Or is her nightmare just beginning?

Extraterrestrials – Premiere: Tuesday, Jan. 29 – For centuries, Extraterrestrials have been flying the night sky, abducting us, designing crop circles, erasing our memories and tantalizing our imaginations. Alien life can’t be confirmed, but our obsession with it can’t be ignored. Every week, Parcast hosts analyze alien encounters ranging from ridiculous to the spine-chilling, and land on the most plausible explanation. What’s really going on, and why do we think we aren’t alone?

Crimes of Passion – Premiere: Wednesday, Feb. 20 – They say love and hate are two sides of the same coin. Crimes of Passion is about flipping that coin. Every week follows a love story that turns into a crime story. Along the way, the hosts analyze the relationship dynamics and psychology that lead to betrayal, theft, and even murder.

Survival – Premiere: Monday, March 20 – How far would you go to save your own life? Survival takes look through the eyes of the world’s most resilient survivors; people trapped on sinking ships, captured in death camps, alone in the arctic wilderness. The show follows them through every breath, as their self-preservation instincts are pushed to the limit. Within each weekly story, hosts will analyze the strategies they used to survive, and provide worst-case-scenario advice for listeners.

Not Guilty – Premiere: Thursday, March 28 – This weekly podcast presents the stories of both the wrongfully convicted and the victims who never saw justice. Each episode follows a different victim of miscarried justice, examining how the justice system could fail the people it was designed to protect. What’s it like to be a “criminal” who didn’t commit a crime? Or to see the person who hurt you or your family member walk free? And why does this keep happening.

Espionage – Premiere: Friday, April 12 – Lies. Spies. Scandal. Espionage tells the stories of the world’s most incredible undercover missions, and how these covert operations came into the public eye. Throughout each mission, we’ll explore the real-world spy tactics required to impersonate, exploit, and infiltrate the most confidential places in the world. The tense tales of politics and danger will include the Enigma Code, the Rosenberg Trial, and the original Casanova.

The Dark Side of… – Premiere: Monday, April 29 - The Dark Side Of digs into the dirty underbelly of pop culture and history icons. Episodes will bring to light the little-known facts and disturbing stories about beloved institutions, from the founding fathers and the space race to coffee and The Wizard of Oz. Every week, the aim is to expose the ugly truth behind the cultural moments and public figures we hold most dear, proving that almost nothing is what it seems.
